Women's Basketball preps for Northern Arizona

GREELEY, Colo. – The first split series of the season has arrived for Women's Basketball. Facing a stern test in Northern Arizona, the Bears enjoy home-court advantage on Thursday before traveling Flagstaff for a matchup on Saturday.

Opening Tip
Northern Colorado has won two straight games for the second time this season and has won four of its last five contests.
Alisha Davis was named Big Sky Player of the week after posting 21.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 2.5 bpg and 2.5 spg against Eastern Washington.
Freshman Hannah Simental continues to shoot lights-out from beyond the arc. Simental ranks No. 2 in the country in three-point percentage (55.3%).
As a team, the Bears rank 15th nationally from deep, shooting 38.0% from three-point range.
UNC will be looking to get back on track versus the Lumberjacks. Before dropping its two matchups last year, Northern Colorado had won five straight.
Senior Alexis Chapman posted her best performance of the season against EWU, pouring in a season-high 10 points.
Scouting the Lumberjacks
Fourth-year head coach Loree Payne had her squad tabbed No. 3 in the preseason rankings. After winning its first three Big Sky contests, including a victory over Idaho on New Year's Eve, NAU has lost six of its last seven.
Senior guard JJ Nakai sits second in the conference in scoring at 16.7 per contest.
While UNC sits atop the Big Sky in three-point percentage, NAU's perimeter defense is equally as impressive, holding opponents to a BSC best 26.9 percent.
History against Northern Arizona
UNC has enjoyed a wealth of success against Northern Arizona. The Bears have a 21-8 overall record against the Lumberjacks, with an 11-4 clip in the Bank of Colorado Arena and a 10-4 mark in Flagstaff.
Against the Conference
The Bears are 5-5 thus far in a young Big Sky Conference season. Since joining the conference, UNC has 163 wins to just 127 losses.
On This Date
Combined, Northern Colorado is 8-9 on January 28 and 30. Back in 2017, the Bears trounced Southern Utah 74-55, continuing an 11-game win streak.
