Bears Face Road Test Against Thunderbirds

Northern Colorado will look to even the season series against Southern Utah
Northern Colorado women's basketball looks to keep momentum going, starting off with a road game this Thursday.

Opening Tip
Northern Colorado put on an offensive show against Sacramento State this past Saturday, scoring a season-high, 90 points. UNC led the entire game and shot a season-high 56.7 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three-point range. The Bears had four players score in double digits in the game. The Bears dominated the paint, outscoring the Hornets, 48-22. UNC built a 41-28 rebounding advantage. Ali Meyer led UNC with nine rebounds and scored six points.
Jasmine Gayles set a career high against the Hornets with 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-5 from three-point range. It was Gayles first 20-point game of her career.
Alisha Davis set a career high in the game as well, scoring 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting. It was Davis' second career 20-point game.
UNC has now defeated Sacramento State in seven consecutive games.
Scouting the Thunderbirds
Southern Utah is currently tied with UNC in conference, holding a 7-7 record in the Big Sky. The Thunderbirds are 13-10 overall this season after splitting home games last week. SUU fell to Sacramento State, 71-62, but rebounded with a 82-64 win over Northern Arizona. Rebecca Cardenas has not fallen off her offensive pace so far this season, averaging 17.5 points per game to lead the conference in scoring. She also leads the team with 109 assists. Ashley Larsen is the Thunderbirds primary net defender, leading the team with 5.9 rebounds per game and 17 blocks.
History against Southern Utah
In program history, Northern Colorado is 11-5 against the Thunderbirds. UNC is 5-3 against them at home and 4-2 on the road, with a 2-0 record in neutral sites. Earlier this season, SUU defeated UNC 68-55 in Greeley, with Cardenas scoring 30 points against the Bears.
