UNC men's basketball defeated Colorado Christian 87-62
GREELEY, Colo. – A lot can happen in 277 days, for UNC men's basketball one thing was missing in that time frame, gameday. In their return to action Wednesday night the Bears defeated Colorado Christian 87-62. Not only was it the first win of the 2020-21 season, but head coach Steve Smiley's first win leading the UNC program.
A 9-0 run to close out the first half sparked the Bears who looked like they had some rust built up since their last game in March.
Northern Colorado scorched the nets to start the second half making 10 of their first 14 field goal attempts, outscoring CCU 22-8 in the first seven and a half minutes to take control of the game. Bodie Hume outscored the Cougars during that stretch with 10 of his game-high 20 points.
Hume finished the night with his first career double-double adding in 10 rebounds.
The Bears defense stepped up in the second half chasing Colorado Christian off the three-point line allowing just five attempts after they attempted 15 in the first.
