Bears ready for another in-state battle at Denver

Men's basketball heads to Denver Wednesday night
GREELEY, Colo. – The benefit of having four games in a week's stretch is the ability to turn to the next opponent and opportunity quickly. For Northern Colorado that's exactly what they are able to do on Wednesday when they take on Denver at 6 pm.
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado aims to bounce back from an 81-45 loss to Colorado on Monday.
- The Bears troubled to find consistency against CU with 21 turnovers.
- Bodie Hume once again led the team with 11 points in the loss.
- Daylen Kountz scored five points and added in a rebound, assist, steal and block in his return to Boulder where he played his freshman and sophomore season.
- Kur Jockuch led the Bears with eight rebounds and tied for the game-high against the big bodies of the Buffaloes.
- This is UNC's second straight road game and fourth game in a week's span dating back to last Wednesday.
- The Bears have won two straight against Denver including an 86-64 decision in Greeley last year.
- For the second straight game, the head coaches for both programs are Colorado natives in Steve Smiley and Rodney Billups.
- Denver is 1-3 on the year with the lone win coming against a common opponent with the Bears in Regis.
- The Pioneers most recently played on Dec. 12 with a three-point loss to Dixie State, 73-70.
Scouting the Pioneers
Denver enters Wednesday night's game aiming to end a three-game losing streak. The lone win of the year came against Regis 82-66 in their season opener.
The Pioneers have a trio of players averaging double figures scoring in Jase Townsend (17.8), Robert Jones (11.8) and Sam Hines Jr (10.0).
What's Ahead
It's Big Sky season starting next week for the Bears! UNC will host Idaho State on December 22 and 23 to start the conference season. Tip is set for 2 pm both days.
