Opening Tip
Head coach Jenny Huth and company are looking to continue the momentum they ended with last season. Before falling to a tough Montana State team, the Bears knocked off Sacramento State in the first round of the Big Sky Championships. Alisha Davis led all scorers with a career-high 32 points against the Hornets.
Speaking of the sophomore forward, Davis' efforts a season ago garnered much-earned respect around the conference. After leading the Big Sky in field goal percentage as a freshman, Davis landed on the Preseason All-Big Sky Team this fall.
Eight returners, including four of the five starters from last season, are set to don the Blue and Gold once again this season. Alexis Chapman represents the lone senior on the roster this year. The senior guard from Garland, Texas averaged 12.2 points per contest and poured in a career-high 23 against Colorado State.
Huth also bolstered the roster by bringing in four talented freshmen and transfers Alisa Wiggins and Reka Soos. Wiggins, who played two full seasons with Kansas State, is no stranger to Allen Fieldhouse and the Bears will look to her for a bit of guidance on Wednesday evening.
Scouting the Jayhawks
Head coach Brandon Schneider enters his seventh season at the helm of Kansas. Last year, the Jayhawks finished with a 15-14 record, its best mark in seven years.
KU showed tremendous balance offensively last season. All five starters averaged double-figure scoring totals. Four of those five starters return in 2020-21, as do six other Jayhawk players from 2019-20.
History against Kansas
It's just the second time the two programs have gone toe-to-toe. The Jayhawks bested the Bears, 81-54, back in 2009 at Allen Fieldhouse.
Against the Conference
UNC has never beaten a team from the Big 12 in its previous six attempts.
On This Date
Northern Colorado has enjoyed success on November 25. With a 7-1 record, including a 6-1 mark on the road, the Bears will be eager to add to that total. The last time UNC played on the date came back in 2016, coming away victorious over UTSA, 73-66.
What's Ahead?
The Bears return home to the Bank of Colorado Arena for the rest of its non-conference slate. Northern Colorado will host Omaha on Sunday, November 29, before welcoming the Pioneers of Denver back to Greeley on Tuesday, December 1.
