Davis' Career Day Powers Bears Past Eagles

Northern Colorado defeated Eastern Washington, 63-42, in front of the Kids
Northern Colorado women's basketball put on a rebounding show for the 2000+ school kids in attendance from District 6 schools. The Bears defeated Eastern Washington 63-42 at Bank of Colorado Arena behind another strong defensive effort.
UNC never trailed in the game and had a dominate performance in the paint. The Bears outscored the Eagles 38-16, grabbing 58 rebounds. EWU had only 29 rebounds in comparison.
Alisha Davis drove the victory with a career high, 21 points on 10-of-20 shooting. Davis also had a career high 12 rebounds. Ali Meyer had a strong game with 11 rebounds and six points on 2-of-3 shooting.
In the first quarter, UNC built an 18-8 lead with a 50 percent shooting performance. Davis scored six of her points in the quarter, with Alexis Chapman and Bridget Hintz adding five apiece. The Bears defense was lights-out, holding the Eagles to 12.5 percent shooting.
UNC kept up the pressure in the second quarter, but the two teams tied in scoring with 12 points each. The Bears kept EWU to 33.3 percent shooting, but struggled with their shooting, only recording a 21.4 percent mark. UNC went into the half with a 30-20 lead.
Moving to the third quarter, UNC got back to the basics and fed the ball inside to Davis. The freshman scored 11 points in the quarter on 5-of-8 shooting. The Bears went on a 7-0 run at the end of the quarter with Davis scoring five of the team's points. UNC extended its lead to 48-34.
With a solid cushion, UNC continued to clamp down on the Eagles' shooters. The Bears limited EWU to 18.2 percent from the floor, allowing only a pair of three-pointers. Meyer scored four points, while Kurstyn Harden came off the bench and pulled down five rebounds, including four offensive.
UNC closed out the Eagles, 63-42, and improved their conference record to 4-4. The Bears are now 8-9 overall this season.

- Northern Colorado's 58 rebounds is the second most for a single game in Division 1 history. The Bears had 20 offensive rebounds.
- Alexis Chapman finished with 14 points, going 4-of-8 from three-point range. Chapman added seven rebounds in the game.
- Kurstyn Harden tripled her previous career-high with nine rebounds in 10 minutes of action. Harden scored three points in the game as well.
- Northern Colorado had six blocks on Monday, with Alisha Davis recording two.
- Despite having more turnovers, UNC had an 11-5-point advantage in points-off-turnovers.
- UNC scored 12 points in second chance opportunities.
