Head Coach Ed McCaffrey announces the first seven members of his staff
Building a staff is like a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. It takes time and you must find the right piece for the right spot. Head coach Ed McCaffrey has been working diligently on his inaugural staff at Northern Colorado and filled out most of the puzzle with seven coaches now in place.
The new coaching staff brings plenty of NFL and college experience with them, alongside great ties throughout the Centennial State.
Joining the Northern Colorado staff will be Dave Baldwin (Offensive Coordinator), Scott Darnell (Defensive Coordinator), Tony Coaxum (Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Backs), Daryl Moe (Assistant Coach), and Max McCaffrey (Wide Receivers). Two coaches from the previous staff have been retained in Brandon Maguire (Running Backs/Recruiting Coordinator) and Michael Armour (Tight Ends).
"Bringing championship football back to the University of Northern Colorado starts with the people. I am blessed and beyond excited about the men I have assembled on our coaching staff. They bring the experience we need to propel our program to the next level. Our coaches have won Super Bowls, college bowl games and played at all levels. Most importantly our coaches have followed their hearts to UNC because they care about mentoring the young men in our program to be exceptional in every aspect of their lives. We are building a family for the program, university and community, said Head Coach Ed McCaffrey.
"Our coaching staff has deeps roots in Colorado which is a key when it comes to recruiting. We currently have a roster full of talented players from the state and we want to keep the pipelines coming to Greeley. I know what it takes to build a championship football team and I have seen it begin here when I was with the Broncos. With this staff we are ready to recreate that at UNC. That process has already begun as we attack the remainder of the recruiting period leading up to signing day. It continues with our current players as they tackle winter conditioning before hitting the field for spring ball in the very near future."
