Bears Battle Head-To-Head With Eagles
9/27/2019 8:37:00 PM | Women's Soccer
CHENEY, Wash.- The Bears are being held to high-standards as they were ranked to take first place in the Big Sky Conference, and are now entering the conference-play games of their season. Northern Colorado verse Eastern Washington was the Bear's second game to not only result in double overtime, but in a 1-1 final score as well.
To start the game, the Bears and Eagles hashed it out for nothing but fouls and a scoreless first half. While the first half left us on our toes, both teams came back out prepared to settle the score of this game. Lexi Pulley crossed the ball to the top of the Eagle's box, in the 66th minute, to find Olivia Seddon on the one-touch to guide the ball to the back of the net.
Six short minutes later the Eagles responded with a goal of their own from a line drive up the right side of the field resulting in a goal being caught in the upper right hand side of the net. While Ashley Franza let one in, she still had three overall saves for the Bears today.
On the other end, the Bears has 13 total shots with five being on goal. Maddie Duren and Taylor Bray led the team with most shots, sitting at three each.
What Tim Said
"I thought we played good, and we scored a good goal too. Both teams had a lot of good opportunities. Lexi Pulley hit the cross bar, but now we've got to reload and get ready for Sunday's game. Olivia Seddon who scored the goal created some creativity out there, an Maddie Duren had a really good game, Lindsi Jennings and Maddie Barkow too."
"Overall good team effort, and now it's conference and every point counts. So, we will move on to the next one and get more points where we can."
What's Next
The Bears continue to be on the road this weekend as they visit The University of Idaho September 29, at 2pm. The week following the Bears will be back in business at Jackson Field on October 4, where they will take on Idaho State University at 7pm.
