Cruz finishes in second place, @UNC_Bears_Golf in top 10

UNC women's golf finished second at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic behind Beah Cruz's second place finish
MARICOPA, Ariz. – A day after setting the program record for lowest round, Beah Cruz just missed out on setting another UNC women's golf record on Tuesday, finishing the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at 4-under 212. The score was one off from tying the program 54-hole record set by Morgan Sahm in 2017. The score earned her tie for second place. The Bears finished in sixth place as a team shooting an 890 for it.
Cruz once again had the best round of the day for Northern Colorado with a 1-over, 73. She ended up birdieing five holes on the day and tied for the tournament lead with 14 over the 54 holes. She tied for second with Sarah Busey of Santa Clara, both four strokes behind individual winner Suthavee Chanachai of New Mexico State.
Two other Bears finished the 20-team tournament inside the top 50 of the leaderboard in Marisa Hisaki and Morgan Sahm. Hisaki finished in a tie for 38th by shooting an 11-over, 227, while Sahm finished in a tie for 44th with a 12-over, 228. Sahm shot her best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 2-over 74.
Northern Colorado was one of seven Big Sky schools to play in the event, finishing the best of them all.
What's ahead
The regular season is complete and now Northern Colorado has a week to prepare for the Big Sky Championship. All 11 Big Sky Schools will battle it out for the Big Sky title in Boulder City, Nevada at the Boulder Creek Golf Course over April 19-21.
