Northern Colorado women's golfer Beah Cruz earned third team All-Big Sky honors.
OGDEN, Utah – With the Big Sky Championship teeing off on Friday morning, the conference announced its 2018-19 All-Conference team on Thursday. Northern Colorado women's golf placed one player on the team in Beah Cruz who earned a third team honor.
The third team All-Big Sky honor is the first time the sophomore from Vacaville, California has been named to the All-Big Sky team. Cruz's stroke average of 75.17 helped her earn the spot on the team.
Cruz recorded her best round of the season last week at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. In the second round, she shot a program record 68. She finished the tournament with her career-best finish of tied for second by shooting a 4-under, 212, one off the school's 54-hole record.
On the year she earned three top 10 finishes and five top 25 finishes. In the Bears best team finish of the season at the Rose City Collegiate, Cruz shot a 223 to finish tied for sixth while the team was tied for third.
She joins teammate Morgan Sahm who was an honorable mention honor last year and third team member in 2016-17, as the only two players currently on the roster to earn All-Big Sky honors.
Idaho's Sophie Hausmann won the Player of the Year honor, while Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan of Southern Utah earned Freshman of the Year.
UNC and the rest of the Big Sky begin the Big Sky Championship on Friday at 8 am MDT at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. For live results of the tournament, click here.
