Both Morgan Sahm and the UNC women's golf team earned top 10 finishes at the GCU Invite
PHOENIX – Northern Colorado women's golf closed out its first spring event of the year in solid fashion, moving up the leaderboard three spots to finish in seventh place at the GCU Invite. The Bears shot their best round of the tournament with a 293 on Sunday, finishing with a 902.
Morgan Sahm earned a top 10 finish by ending the tournament in a tie for 10th place with a three-round score of 221. She posted back-to-back 73s to start the tournament, before posting a 75 on Sunday. The tie for 10th is Sahm's best finish of the season.
Nicole Polivchak earned a top 25 finish by shooting her second straight 73 on Sunday to end the tournament with a 225. She ended up tied for 25th on the individual scoreboard.
The best round of the final day belonged to Beah Cruz. She shot an even-par 72. She put three birdies on her Sunday scorecard and ended the week shooting a 227.
Northern Colorado's final two golfers in the tournament Marisa Hisaki and Aili Bundy shot a 73 and 80 on Sunday.
Toledo won the event by shooting an 877 over the three rounds. The Bears had the second-best finish of the six Big Sky schools competing in the event.
What's ahead
UNC looks to keep the positive momentum moving forward when they return to the course at the beginning of March for the Gunrock Invitational in Sacramento, Calif. The tournament hosted by UC Davis will take place over March 4 and 5.
