12/20/2019 9:01:00 PM | Men's Basketball
SIOUX FALLS, SD – Northern Colorado men's basketball extended its win streak to four games with an 87-68 win over South Dakota on Friday night. The Bears improve to 7-4 on the year as they conclude their non-conference portion of the schedule.
Northern Colorado went on a 20-6 run over a five-minute span of the second half to go from up four to up 17 and put the game away. The Bears were 4-for-4 from behind the arc during the run as Matt Johnson, Rodrick McCobb, Jonah Radebaugh and Trent Harris each made one. Radebaugh and Harris combined for 11 of the 20 points during the run.
On the night, Radebaugh scored a game-high 24 points to become the 22nd Bear in program history to score 1,000 points for his career. He missed out on a triple-double by three rebounds. He had a career-best 10 assists to go with the seven rebounds and two steals.
Radebaugh was one of six Bears to finish the game in double-figures scoring.
In the first half, it was Sam Masten who paced the team early on. He scored nine of the team's first 14 points including a 3-pointer to put the Bears up 14-12 with 15:23 remaining. He had 11 points by the break and finished with 19.
UNC led the rest of the game following the Masten three in the first half.
What They Said
Head Coach Jeff Linder
Overall Thoughts
"We imposed our will tonight. This team has a lot of grit and a lot of toughness. We always talk about taking it one possession at a time. Can we have more discipline and more effort than our opponent and our guys came out tonight executed the game plan that coach Dorian Green put together. I'm glad to see Coach Green earn his first road win of his coaching career. Plus the guys gave their coaches and really their families an early Christmas present with this win. I think my wife and kids are really thankful for that."
On Jonah Radebaugh's night
"What can you say about Jonah tonight, he finished three rebounds short of a triple-double. You just put the ball in his hands late in the game and watch him work."
About Radebaugh reaching 1,000 career points
"Jonah is a really really good player who will end up playing basketball for a really long time. You can't teach what he has in terms of his motor. The ability to play the entire game and guard the team's best player night in and night out. Tonight he went against the Summit League Preseason Player of the Year who is six foot six and Jonah just plays bigger than he is. It's so much fun to watch."
On the spark Sam Masten provided
"Sam Masten really gave us a spark tonight. We knew he would have an advantage for us with whoever they matched up with him. That three-pointer he made when we were up 16 was really big. They had made a couple of shots and we had missed a could against the zone at that point and it was a big shot that really put this game away."
Stat of the Game
Zero, that's how many 3-pointers South Dakota made on Friday night. The Bears held USD to 0-for-8 from behind the arc. Coming into the game USD was shooting 41.6 percent from three.
Game Notes

- Kai Edwards continues to bring big production off the bench with 10 points and seven rebounds.
