Michael Walker's performance against Idaho State earned him Player of the Week honors
FARMINGTON, Utah – Recording his second two interception game of the season, Michael Walker's performance against Idaho State in UNC's 26-20 win over the Bengals earned him the Root Sports Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week honors. It is the second time this year and in his career that Walker has earned the honor.
Walker played a key role in Northern Colorado's first win at Idaho State since 2009. It started with the first play he was on the field when he forced a fumble setting up UNC's first touchdown of the game. He went on to have his second two interception game of the season with a pair of picks that turned out swinging the game. The first came at the start of the second half when he had a 35-yard pick-six to put UNC up 18-10. The second came in the endzone to help UNC hold onto their 26-20 lead. He also broke up another pass and recorded three tackles.
On the year Walker has four interceptions, ranking tied for first in the Big Sky and tied for 10th nationally. His pick-six on Saturday was the second of his career, the other came in the 2018 season opener against McNeese State when he took the lateral from Sherand Boyd Jr to the house following the pick.
The Big Sky also names its Offensive and Special Teams Players of the week both coming from Eastern Washington. Quarterback Eric Barriere won the offensive honors and kicker Seth Harrison the special teams.
Northern Colorado returns home to host No.15/14 Montana State on Saturday. The Bears and Bobcats kick off at Noon. MSU defeated Southern Utah on Saturday 42-7.
The game will be broadcast on Eleven Sports and Pluto TV ch. 541 and you can listen to the game on 1310 KFKA.
