Three Bears Place On All-Conference First-Team

Daisy Schultz, Kailey Jo Ince and Taylor Muff pick up Big Sky Honors, Lauren Hinrichs earns a Second Team Spot
FARMINGTON, UT- After winning the Big Sky regular season, Northern Colorado volleyball placed three on the All-Conference, first-team. Daisy Schultz, Kailey Jo Ince and Taylor Muff earned spots on the first-team after leading the high-powered Bears offense this season. Lauren Hinrichs earned a spot on the All-Conference, second-team with another strong season at the net.
UNC's offense has been overpowering this season, leading the conference with 13.70 kills per set and 12.80 assists per set. The Bears also lead the Big Sky with 1.63 aces per set and are third with a .229 hitting percentage.
Schultz earns her first career, first-team honor after setting the ball at record rates in 2019. The junior setter leads the Big Sky with 11.25 digs per set and has 1294 total, 90 away from tying the UNC Division I program record. Schultz set the single-match DI record with 72 assists against Idaho State(11/9) earlier this season. She has eight matches this season with 50+ assists. At the service line, Schultz has delivered 19 aces for the Bears. Along with her outstanding setting, Schultz has developed as a two-way player for the Bears. She is fourth on the team with 2.25 digs per set and has recorded 33 total blocks, with three solo and 30 assists. The Greenwood Village native raced past her previous career high in digs, recording 24 against Montana State. Schultz was named to the Big Sky, Second-Team last season.
Ince became the focal point of UNC's attack this season, ranking third in the conference with 3.77 kills per set and 10th with a .274 attack percentage. Ince is also third in the conference with a 4.01 points per set average. In her breakout sophomore year, Ince has 434 kills, 21 away from tying the DI program record for the most in a single season. Against Idaho St, Ince posted 29 kills and a .276 attack percentage, the second most for a single-match in the UNC"s DI era. The Hesston, Kan. native has recorded six matches with 20+ kills this season. Ince has also contributed at the net for the Bears with 40 total blocks. Ince is second on the team with 15 solo blocks and has 25 block assists as well. The first team selection is Ince's first career All-Conference award.
Muff has been the Bears' key two-way player this season, ranking second on the team for both kills per set(3.09) and digs per set(2.50). Muff is third on the team with 33 aces, averaging 0.29 per set. The Pittsburg, Kan. native ranks sixth in the Big Sky with 3.69 points per set, accumulating 355 kills and 288 digs. In 2019, Muff has recorded 11 double-doubles, earning her latest in the regular season finale against Sacramento St. with 15 kills and 14 digs. Earlier this season, Muff set a career mark with 21 kills against Montana St. on 52 total attacks. The junior is also second on the team with 57 total blocks, leading the Bears with 16 solo and adding 41 assists. Muff earns her first career All-Conference award.
Hinrichs provided efficient scoring from the middle for UNC this season, ranking seventh in the Big Sky with a .313 hitting percentage. Hinrichs is third on the team with 2.25 kills per set and has 257 total. During the season, Hinrichs has matched her career-high twice, recording 15 kills against Marist(9/13) and Idaho(10/12). She hit .364 and .483 in those matches respectively. The Doniphan, Neb. native has eight matches this season with 10+ kills and a hitting percentage over .300, with four of those matches hitting over .400. Hinrichs is third on the team with 52 total blocks, recording nine solo and 43 assists. The redshirt-junior earned Conference Newcomer of the Year for the 2018 season after transferring to UNC from Wichita State.
Northern Colorado travels to Sacramento, Calif. for the Big Sky Tournament this week as the top seed. UNC will play the eighth seed, Montana, on Thursday, Nov. 28th at 5:30 p.m.(MT).
