UNC men's basketball adds to its guard depth with the signing of Xavier DuSell
Northern Colorado added to its guard depth with the signing of Xavier DuSell, a 6-4, 190 lbs, guard from Gilbert, Arizona.
"We're really excited about the signing of Xavier DuSell. Xavier has a chance to be a really special player in our program and we believe he can have an immediate impact for us," head coach Jeff Linder said. "Xavier is a multi-dimensional guard with great size and can play multiple positions. What he does at an elite level is shoot the basketball. Xavier has a quick release with unlimited range, and he puts pressure on the defense as soon as the possession begins. More importantly, Xavier is a great kid, a great student, and he brings a winning attitude and personality to the court on a daily basis. Bears fans are going to really enjoy watching X wear the Blue & Gold for the next four years."
A three star recruit according to Rivals.com, DuSell averaged 14.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists as a junior at Arizona Compass Prep. Going into his senior year, he's helped his team earn the No. 3 ranking in the Grind Session. In AAU he played for Team Harden – Arizona in the Adidas Gauntlent.
His high school coach, Ed Gibson had high praise for DuSell, "Xavier Dusell is a relentless worker, one of the best shooters in the country. He exudes the character that every program needs to build a championship team."
He chose UNC over UTEP, New Mexico, Montana, Northern Arizona, UW-Milwaukee and Idaho State.
DuSell plans to major in communications while at Northern Colorado.
