UNC men's basketball adds 6-7, 205 lbs Bryce Kennedy to recruiting class
The Bears went to the Lone Star state to add some size to their roster in 2020-21 with the signing of Bryce Kennedy. The 6-7, 205 lbs forward will come to Greeley from Allen Texas.
"Bryce Kennedy will be a thrilling addition to the Bear basketball program. Bryce comes to us from one of the best high school basketball programs in the state of Texas, and all he knows is winning," head coach Jeff Linder said. "In Bryce, we are getting a high-character, mature young man. His selfless play on the court is an extension of who he is as a person. Bryce's combination of size, athleticism and skill give him a really high-ceiling as a player. We look forward to Bryce's impact as a high-level, multi-dimensional defender, above-the-rim finisher, and winning playmaker. The sky is the limit for Bryce as a player and person and we couldn't be more excited to have him join the Bear family."
Kennedy has played on his high school's varsity team since his sophomore year, helping Allen High School win the state title as a sophomore. He is a top 50 recruit in the state of Texas ranked 40th by Texas Hoops and 46th by Texas Top 100. On the AAU circuit, he played for YGC36 in the Adidas Gauntlent. Kennedy's sister Meryn plays volleyball at SMU.
"Bryce is the vocal leader of our current team. He is a long and extremely athletic player who is just starting to scratch the surface of his offensive potential," said his high school coach Joe McCullough. "Defensively, he is very solid and led our program in charges taken last season as a junior."
Kennedy's AAU coach Vonzell Thomas also had high praise for him, "Northern Colorado is the perfect fit for Bryce! He is a hard worker and plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor. Bryce is very coachable and he loves to and knows how to win. I'm excited to watch his growth while playing for a great coaching staff at UNC."
Kennedy chose Northern Colorado over Cornell, Dartmouth, UMKC, Princeton, Oral Roberts, Denver, Brown and New Hampshire.
He plans to study Business during his time at UNC.
