Northern Colorado will travel down the road
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- Northern Colorado will not have to travel far for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as the team plays Colorado on Saturday, Nov. 16. The match was announced on Monday afternoon during the NCAA Women's Soccer selection show.
The Bears automatically qualified for the national tournament after winning the Big Sky Tournament on Sunday at Jackson Stadium. In the finals, UNC defeated the third seed, Eastern Washington, 1-0. The Bears won the tournament as the number four seed, defeating the top-seed, Montana 2-1 and the five seed, Northern Arizona, 2-1, both in overtime.
Taylor Bray was named the tournament MVP after scoring two goals, including the game winners in both the final and semifinal games. Bray was joined on the All-Tournament team by Lexi Pulley, Mackenzie Bray, Ashley Franza and Maddie Barkow.
UNC will make its first tournament appearance since 2015 against a team they have already faced once this season.
The two teams met in Boulder in September, with the Buffaloes winning the game 4-0. The Bears were playing their third road game in seven days when the two teams last faced each other. CU was ranked No. 24 at the time of the game.
The first-round game against the Buffaloes will be held at Prentup Field in Boulder, with kick-off scheduled for noon on Saturday the 16th. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for youth. CU and UNC students are $6 with a student ID. Purchase tickets online by clicking here.
