GREELEY, Colo. – An Athletic Director, an administrator, a coach, a student-athlete. Tracy Huth has had the chance to experience it all and having led Oakland University from 2007-14 and most recently as a special assistant to the AD at UCLA, he will be joining the University of Northern Colorado as an Assistant Athletic Director for Revenue Generation. The move also helps Huth reunite with his wife, Jennifer Roulier-Huth, who was named the head coach of the Bears women's basketball program on April 30.
"It's an absolute honor to join the University of Northern Colorado family and to be a member of such a great staff in Athletics. I see many similarities between UNC and Oakland, which is where I spent most of my career to date," Huth said. "I believe this will make for a smooth transition and place me in a position to assist the University and Athletics in meeting our Mission and primary objectives. Additionally, I'm grateful to (Athletic Director) Dan Guerrero for providing me an opportunity to work, learn and grow at UCLA for the past four years. Jenny, Tanner and I look forward to being a part of the Greeley community for many years to come. The hospitality and welcoming spirit that has been displayed already makes this feel like home!"
With UNC he will be leading ticket sales efforts, including season and group, sponsorship sales and fulfillment and the Pepsi UNC Bears Fan Fest football tailgate coordinator.
"We are thrilled to add someone with Tracy's diverse experience to our external team. He will be invaluable in helping grow the resources necessary for success in Division 1 athletics as well as furthering our connection to the Northern Colorado community," Senior Associate Athletics Director David Sabolcik said.
Huth certainly knows college athletics. He spent the previous four years as a Special Assistant to the Athletic Director at UCLA. During that time he served as a member of the External Relations staff in the development and implementation of the Scholarship Seating Program (which is the season ticket program for football), Project Coordinator for the Wasserman Football Center, Athletics Liaison for the UCLA & Veteran's Administration Program, International Programs & Groups Liaison, and special projects/events as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Huth first began his collegiate journey in 1980 at Oakland University, starting as a student-athlete, before eventually working his way up to leading the department for seven years.
He spearheaded the school's move from the Summit League to the Horizon League, after leaving a legacy of success in the Summit League highlighted with 73 conference championships in 14 years, while leading the conference in academic all-league selections in eight consecutive seasons. Oakland reached 34 NCAA appearances.
Huth led the charge in improving Oakland's facilities, as the University witnessed $10.3 million dollars in improvements, including adding a state-of-the-art track and field facility, tennis courts and enhancements to the baseball and softball complexes.
Before running the department, Huth served as the head coach of OU's women's swimming and diving program for 11 years, helping to establish the program as one of the premier programs in the country at the Division II level.
As a student-athlete, Huth was a well-known swimmer himself earning 24 All-American honors, along with 13 individual national championships. He is a four-time national champion in the 200- and 400-yard individual medley events and earned NCAA Division II Swimmer of the Year three times. He remains the only swimmer in NCAA history to have won both the 200 and 400 individual medley in four consecutive seasons.
A native of Yakima, Wash., Huth earned his bachelor's degree in social studies/secondary education from Oakland in 1985 and in '96, he earned his master's degree in sports administration from Wayne State University.
Tracy, his wife Jennifer and son, Tanner, reside in Greeley. Huth also has two adult children, Kara and Chance.
