"This cannot get old when it's a first time experience. I am looking at this whole situation and so excited for this group. It is just a great opportunity for our program and we have gone through so much this season as a group that I'm excited for this experience for them," head coach Kamie Ethridge said. "We are playing our best basketball of the season and a confident group which will be fun to see how they handle this new experience."
Northern Colorado earned the second highest seed by a Big Sky School behind the 1997 Montana team that was a 9-seed. The Bears are 26-6 on the season and 3-1 against teams that made the field of 64. UNC's strong non-conference schedule helped in earning such a high seed finishing with an RPI of 33.
Michigan is the fourth Big Ten school Northern Colorado will face as a program, last taking on Nebraska in 2014. The Bears are 1-8 against the Big Ten with the lone win coming against Illinois.
