Swimming and Diving sweeps dual meet against Grand Canyon and Air Force

UNC swimming and diving defeated both Grand Canyon and Air Force in their dual meet this weekend
USAFA – Northern Colorado swimming and diving competed in a dual meet this weekend against Air Force and Grand Canyon hosted by the Air Force Academy. The Bears continued their winning ways defeating the host Falcons 125.5-117.5 and WAC opponent GCU 134-107. In the 13 event meet, UNC won eight of them outright. The pair of wins makes it five straight meet wins for the team to improve to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the WAC.
Rose Saya put together a solid meet for the Bears, winning the 200 free, 100 free, and on the 200 free relay team that took first to close out the meet. Saya's first win of the meet came in the 200 free by touching the wall in 1:54.59. She finished under a minute in the 100 free, taking first with a time of 52.86. Joining her on the 200 relay team that won in 1:35.39 were Maddy Moore, Morgan King and Emily Hamel.
Moore, was another multi-event winner for Northern Colorado winning as an individual in the 50 free. She beat out all her competitors by swimming the race in 23.65 seconds.
Four other Bears one events in the meet in Petra Kis, Anna Austin, Sunneva Robertson and Maria Heymans. Kis won the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.44, Austin took the 500 free in 5:19.72 and Heymans the 100 back in 1:03.87. Robertson took the 1000 free in 10:51.55, with teammate Holli Johnson just behind her for second place at 10:52.59.
On the diving board, Celeste Llona finished the best for Northern Colorado in the 1 and 3 meter dives. She took fifth in the 1 meter with a score of 219.65 and sixth in the 3 meter posting a 208.40.

Northern Colorado returns to competition November 15-17 in the highly competitive Phill Hansel Invitational hosted by Houston.
