FINAL RESULTS
ERIE,CO - The Bears continued to play steady golf as all three of their rounds were not more than a single stroke over par at the 8th Annual Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. Tuesday's final round saw the Bears shoot one-over par for the second round in a row. They finished the tournament at two-over par and in ninth place overall. That was good enough to put them in the top half of the 19-team field and placed them as the top Big Sky finisher besting Southern Utah (+6), Idaho (+12) and Weber State (+16).
Senior Andrew Romano fired a two-under par 70 for his final round, his fifth round of under-par golf already this season. Romano scattered four birdies to go with 12 pars and a pair of bogeys during his round. The senior concluded his tournament at three-under par putting in a tie for 18th place overall. It was Romano's second top-20 finish this season.
The top round of the day for UNC belonged to junior Joshua Matz. Matz had five birdies, 11 pars and just two bogeys to finish with a three-under par 69 for the day. Matz was two-over par for the tournament, placing him in a tie for 43rd.
Sophomore Coby Welch closed his tournament by shooting two-over par 74. That left him at even-par for the tournament and put him in a tie for 30th place. This was Welch's second top-30 finish this season.
Senior Sam Marley chipped in by providing a four-over par 76 to the team score on Tuesday. Marley finished the tournament at 15-over par.
Junior Li Chen shot a final round 77, finishing 4-over par and tied for 57th place.

Coaches Comments:
Head Coach, Roger Prenzlow
"All the guys did some good things throughout the tournament. Andrew played another nice event. Coby played very well in spurts as did Joshua and Li. We just did not make many putts. We need to have two great weeks of practice before the Paintbrush in Denver. We are still undefeated in Big Sky play and have beaten some nice programs over the last three tournaments. We will keep getting better and see where we can push this program to."
