The Bears will face the Cowboys in Laramie on Saturday, Feb. 6
GREELEY, Colo. - UNC Wrestling will take their final regular season trip this weekend, making the drive up to Laramie, Wyoming to face the Wyoming Cowboys on Feb. 6 (7:00 p.m).
The Bears went 1-1 on the road last weekend, defeating the Boise State Broncos on Friday (22-15) with six wins, and falling to the Oregon State Beavers on Sunday (35-6) with only two wins. Trent Noon [197] and Eleazar De Luca [157] were the lone Bears to win both of their weekend matches.
So far this season, Wyoming is 4-6 on the season, with Big 12 wins over Air Force [22-16] and North Dakota State [27-13]. The Cowboys only win at home so far this season came over Cal Poly, 35-2 on Jan. 23.
Trey Andrews, Benjamin Polkowske, and Brian Macchione earned the Bears' three wins in last season's dual against Wyoming, in which UNC fell to the Cowboys in Greeley, 26-9. During the 2013-14 season (the last time the Bears went up to Laramie), UNC fell 41-6, including six losses via pin.
The Bears trail in the all-time series against the Cowboys 29-49-1, including 21 straight losses (seven straight against Wyoming head coach Mark Branch).
