Park Player of the Year, Vaughn Second Team All-WAC

UNC Baseball's Jensen Park was Named WAC Player of the Year and Brandon Vaughn earned second team All-WAC honors
MESA, Ariz.—The Western Athletic Conference announced its All-WAC teams and awards Tuesday evening at the pre-tournament award ceremony. Northern Colorado had two players make the All-WAC team, Jensen Park (Kaneohe, Hawaii) who was named WAC Player of the Year and Brandon Vaughn (Louisville, Colo.) on the second team.
This is the second time in Park's career that he had been named a conference Player of the Year. He was the Great West Conference Player of the Year in 2013 as a sophomore. This year Park posted a .531 batting average in WAC play, helping him to the third best batting average on the season in the NCAA at .437. His WAC average is the highest since 1992 when Brad Gennaro of San Diego State hit .549. Park also led the conference in slugging percentage (.802), on-base percentage (.575), hits (51) and total bases (77).
Vaughn earned second team All-WAC honors for his excellent play both in the field and at the plate. His versatility to play both corners of the infield helped him earn the honor at third base. He led the team with 27 RBI in conference play to earn a Top 5 spot in conference for RBI. This is the first time Vaughn has been named to any All-Conference team.
The WAC also named its Pitcher, Freshman, and Coach of the Year Thursday night. Bakersfield earned two of those honors with senior Hayden Carter earning Pitcher of the Year honors and skipper Bill Kernen getting Coach of the Year. The Freshman of the Year when to Grand Canyon outfielder Garrison Schwartz.
Northern Colorado, Seattle, Bakersfield, Sacramento State, North Dakota and Utah Valley will now turn their attention to the conference tournament that starts on Wednesday. UNC will face North Dakota in the first round at 7:00 p.m. pacific time.
