Seniors Stephanie Lee and D'shara Strange are just two of 70 college seniors to receive invites to the ProHoops Combine
GREELEY – For Stephanie Lee and D'shara Strange their careers at Northern Colorado may have ended last Thursday at UCLA, but as a player doors are just opening.
"I am very excited to announce that Stephanie Lee and D'shara Strange have received invitations to attend the 'ProHoops Combine' being held in conjunction with the Women's Final Four in Tampa, Florida," head coach Kamie Ethridge said.
The ProHoops Combine provides an opportunity for players to showcase their talents and skills for the WNBA and foreign club coaches, GM's and player agents. The combine is operated by former WNBA GM and coach, Linda Hargrove, and former WNBA coach, Jessie Kenlaw. Hargrove and Kenlaw evaluated, ranked, and invited the top 70 senior players in the country to attend.
"Participation in this elite combine will provide an opportunity for Steph and D'shara to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing professional basketball," Ethridge said. "We are proud to see these two young ladies carrying on the Northern Colorado program legacy of advancing players to the professional ranks."
For Lee and Strange they are more than excited for the opportunity.
"I am really excited to go to the combine and making sure I go into it with the right mindset. I am looking at it as just another game or practice and trying to not to overdo it," Lee said. "It is a huge opportunity for both of us and for the program. It is a huge attribute to our coaches over the years helping us get to this spot and show how good of a program we have a Northern Colorado."
"It is a huge opportunity that not everybody gets, I am just so excited. I am hoping to just represent the school well," said Strange. "It is a good feeling to know we got two players into this when there are going to be great competitors there to go against from the big schools like Tennessee and Duke."
This will be just the beginning of the journey for these two as they prepare for the April 16 WNBA Draft, and for teams from overseas to start calling.
