Scott's Near Perfect Shooting Leads to @UNCBearsWBB Victory

Savannah Scott was on fire Friday afternoon as the Bears defeated Valpo 77-63
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Sophomore Savannah Scott was almost perfect from the field (6-7) Saturday afternoon as the Bears finished a 2-0 weekend in San Diego, defeating the Valparaiso Crusaders 77-63. Scott set a career-high in scoring for the second straight game with 21 points on fantastic shooting, going 6-of-7 from the field, including 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.
She added in four rebounds, two steals and an assist to go with the 21 points.
Between Scott and senior guard Kyleigh Hiser, the Bears took control of the game late in the first quarter closing it out on a 13-0 run to be up 25-12 to end the period. During that run the duo combined for 11 of those 13 points, including three made 3-pointers.
For the game, Hiser finished with the second most points on the team with 17, also hitting on four of her three point shots. She added on four rebounds and assists, while blocking one shot.
The hot streak continued for Northern Colorado in the second quarter extending the lead to 18 by the 6:43 mark in the quarter. UNC continued to hold onto the double figure lead into halftime being up 45-27.
During the first half, the Bears shot 51.5 percent, including connecting on eight shots from downtown. For the game, UNC shot 41.4 percent and made 13 three point shots. Three different Bears made four 3-point shots in Scott, Hiser and junior Katie Longwell.
Longwell finished with 12 points and was one of four players to reach double digit points. Scott, Hiser and Kourteney Zadina were the other three, with Zadina scoring 12 points as well.
In the second half, Valpo tried to work its way back into the game, getting within six with 3:21 left in the contest, but UNC slammed the door shut on the comeback responding with a 12-4 run to close it out and secure their second straight victory.
Kianna Williams once again had a good game for Northern Colorado. While being held scoreless today, she led the team with eight rebounds, and added in a career-high five steals with two assists.
Longwell once again led the way for UNC in the assists column with five of the team's 18.
The Bears will return home from their Thanksgiving weekend trip to California to take on Utah State on the first day of December. Tip-off between UNC and USU is set for 7:00 inside The Bank.
