Game Notes: Northern Colorado | Big Sky | Idaho State | Weber State
GREELEY, Colo.—Northern Colorado volleyball found its groove offensively last weekend when they returned home for Big Sky play, and now look to continue that grove when Idaho State and Weber State visit the Bank this weekend.
UNC hit .338 against in its last match with seven players recording six or more kills along with four of them hitting above .450.
The Bears start another key Big Sky weekend with a rematch of last year's Big Sky Tournament Championship game with Idaho State. UNC came out the victors the last time the two teams faced off. This season ISU came in as the preseason favorites for the Big Sky title, and have lived up to those expectations so far being just one of two teams,
Eastern Washington is the other, to be undefeated after two week of Big Sky Play.
Thursday's match will feature two of the conference's best six rotation players in Kendra Cunningham of UNC and reigning MVP Tressa Lyman of Idaho State.
On Saturday the Bears welcome in the Wildcats of Weber State. When UNC and WSU face off it will be the fourth straight match that UNC is facing a first year coach.
Jeremiah Larson is Weber States new head coach, took over the program in January and has made the team a tough out.
WSU has no players averaging over 3.00 kills per set, has five different ones averaging 2.00 KPS. Amanda Varley leads the team with 2.67 KPS.
When it comes to defense Megan Thompson leads WSU in blocking (1.54 BPS) and is one of the top blockers in the Big Sky.
Following this key weekend for the Bears, the team will have a home road split in games. The team will travel to Sacramento State on October 15, before coming home for homecoming against North Dakota.
