Since becoming the head coach in 2011, the men’s and women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field program have broken 30 school records, added 155 new Top 10 performances, as well as qualified athletes to the NCAA Championship the last two seasons, including the first ever UNC Men’s DI NCAA qualifier.
UNC’s women earned their best finish since entering the Big Sky at the 2014 Outdoor Championships, finishing sixth as a team and capturing two BSC Championship individual titles and multiple All-Conference performances. The forecast for the 2013-2014 year began looking brighter during the cross country season when UNC’s women received their first ever All-Conference runner, that carried over to the indoor season which saw several All-Conference performances by the bears. Off the track, both the men’s and women’s track and field teams post over a 3.0 GPA.
Prior to UNC, Schick had spent three years at Missouri Baptist, where she oversaw the development of 10 student-athletes to All-America status, with three each in cross country and indoor track & field and four in outdoor track & field. Schick also coached 11 individual American Mid-West Conference champions and eight academic All-Americans.
Prior to Missouri Baptist, Schick spent three years as an assistant coach at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., while there she worked primarily with the sprinters, hurdlers and relay teams, getting 15 NCAA Mideast Regional qualifiers and three Southland Conference individual champions. Schick started her coaching career at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich., coaching sprints and relays.
Schick graduated from Western State with a bachelor's degree in clinical psychology and went on to earn her master's degree in sports administration from Northwestern State. As a student-athlete with the Mountaineers, Schick qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships and was a member of the school's record-holding teams in both the indoor and outdoor 1,600-meter relays.
