Madison Hagen, originally from Puyallup, Washington, brings a rich playing background and a deep passion for coaching to her role at UNC. A former collegiate athlete, Madison spent one year at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, three years at Whitworth University, and completed her fifth season at Evergreen State College. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Whitworth University in 2024 with a degree in Sports Psychology, earning Academic All-District Team honors during her senior year. She’s now pursuing her master's in coaching while gaining experience at UNC under Coach Mattio, an opportunity that aligns perfectly with her career goals in collegiate coaching.
Madison’s notable moments include defeating rival Whitman, a top-10 team nationally, and scoring 14 points against Division II Saint Martin's University after a challenging knee injury. Her hobbies include lifting, walking, exploring sushi spots, and spending time with family and friends. Madison previously interned at Mead High School in Spokane, Washington, where she coached under Quantae Anderson for two seasons. 2024-25 marks her first season at UNC, where she's eager to grow as a coach and contribute to the women's basketball program.
