High School: Daniel Watson comes to UNC from South County High School in Lorton, Virginia, where he was a standout distance runner. A consistent varsity contributor all four years, Watson capped his high school career with top performances at major meets including the USMC Holiday Classic and multiple postseason championships. One of his most memorable moments was winning the Stallion Invitational 1600m, marking a turning point in his racing career.
Personal: Born in Colorado, Watson stays in his home state to study Biology at UNC with aspirations of attending medical school and working in sports medicine. He was drawn to UNC not only by the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level, but also by a connection—his coach, a former UNC middle-distance runner. Outside of running, Watson enjoys the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and diving into sports science research in his free time.
