2016 Preseason All-Big Sky
2016: Deggs had another outstanding season for the Bears in 2016 as the team's best and most reliable wide receiver. Deggs accumulated 10 touchdowns in 11 games and finished the year with 449 yards. His best performance came in the last game of the season. Deggs put up 3 receiving touchdowns and 128 yards receiving against Cal Poly. Deggs also was a reliable kick returner in 2016 for the Bears and in ten games returning kicks, he recorded 563 return yards. His best return came against NAU for 45 yards.
2015: Deggs finished the regular season tied for second in the FCS in kick return touchdowns with two and accumulated 354 yards on just 10 returns (35.4 yards per return)... He was also named the All-Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Year... His touchdowns of 100 yards and 93 yards came at Sacramento State and against #7 Eastern Washington. Deggs’ TD at Sac State helped UNC defeat the Hornets 27-20, earning the program’s first ever victory against the team... It also tied the program record for longest kick return for a touchdown and tied the FCS record for longest play in the 2015 season... His efforts put him on the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) 2015 watchlist for kick returners... Deggs currently ranks sixth all-time on the UNC D1 kick return career yardage list with 438 yards. Dominic Gunn sits atop the list with 2,070 yards.
2014:Â Played a role on special teams... returned four kicks for 84 yards and one punt for one yard against UNI... played in 8 out of the 11 games his redshirt freshman season... longest return (24 yards) came against North Dakota at home on Nov. 22...Averaged 20 yards a return at Northern Iowa on Sept. 20....Also had four tackles on the season.
2013: Redshirted.
High School: Was a Second-Team All-State selection as a senior and earned All-District First Team honors at running back, defensive back and kick returner... Was also a sprinter for the Devils on the track & field team... Named to the school’s honor roll as both a junior and senior... Had over 2100 all-purpose yards in his senior campaign, with 1,100 rushing.
Personal: Born in Plaquemine, La., to Renee Veggs... Is one of five children with siblings Ameer, Roshidah, Raheesha and Danielle... Hopes to major in business.
