Trent Matthews enters his first year on staff at Northern Colorado working with the defensive backfield.

Matthew's comes to UNC after spending the 2018 season at Colorado State as a defensive graduate assistant.

Prior to being a graduate assistant at CSU, he played professionally for the Edmonton Eskimos and was a high school coach in his home state of Texas for a year.

Matthew's brings a vast knowledge of on field experience with him after being a four-year starter at Colorado State from 2012-15 when he was a two-time All-Mountain West Selection. Over his time at CSU he recorded 273 tackles and intercepted 10 passes while playing safety.

While he made many plays on the field for the Rams, his biggest achievement came off the field when he was one of 11 FBS players named to the AFCA Allstate Good Works Team during the 2015 season. The award recognizes those who have made a positive impact on others in their communities.
