Ronnie Palmer enters his second season as the defensive line coach for Northern Colorado.Â
In his first year at UNC, he helped Keifer Morris to his second straight All-Big Sky honor.Â
Prior to UNC he coached the defensive line and was the Special Teams Coordinator at Texas A&M Kingsville for three seasons. While at Kingsville, he helped the Javelinas lead the Lone Star Conference in sacks in 2016 and 2017 along with rushing yards allowed, total defense and tackles for a loss. Defensive end Brandon Jones was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year as he ranked in the top 10 nationally with 1.1 sacks per game. Overall, 10 players earned All-Conference honors while under Palmer's leadership.Â
Before working at Texas A&M Kingsville, Palmer was a Defensive Graduate Assistant and Special Teams Assistant at Colorado State from 2013-14. He also served as a strength and conditioning intern at Colorado State in 2013.Â
He started his coaching career at Monterey Peninsula College as the Defensive Coordinator in 2012.Â
In 2011, he was a Quality Control coach at his Alma Mater the University of Arizona.
Palmer played in college at the University of Arizona where he was a four year starter from 2004-08. In 2008 he earned All-PAC 10 honors and helped the Wildcats to their first bowl game in over 10 years. He went on to play professionally signing with the Washington Redskins before behind drafted into the UFL by the Las Vegas Locomotives where he played for two seasons before joining the Sacramento Mountain Lions from 2010-11.
Palmer has his Bachelor's degree in social and behavioral sciences form Arizona and Master's in Adult Education from Colorado State.
