Michael Armour has been a mainstay on the Northern Colorado football staff since 2011. He currently coaches the tight ends after serving as the offensive coordinator in his first year in Greeley. Armour has also been responsible for the inside receivers at times during his tenure.Â
While at UNC he helped develop one of the best tight ends in UNC football history in Theron Verna. Verna ended his career as the program’s Division I leader in tight end receiving yards (1,002) and touchdowns (13).
Armour served as the offensive coordinator at Alcorn State in 2010 after coaching quarterbacks and wide receivers both in 2008-09.
He joined the Alcorn State staff from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., where he wore several different hats. He was the head baseball coach and equipment manager as well as coaching both quarterbacks and wide receivers on the gridiron from 2005-07.
In 2004, he held the quarterbacks and wide receivers coaching position at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, where he helped lead the Lions to a 6-3 overall record and a 5-2 mark in SWAC play.
Prior to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, he coached tight ends at Texas A&M-Kingsville for the 2002 and 2003 seasons and spent 1999-01 as the quarterback and wide receivers coach at Norfolk State, where he was also the video coordinator. During 1998, he coached quarterbacks at Alabama A&M and he got his start as an offensive graduate assistant coach in Louisville in 1996-97.
Armour graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Eastern Michigan in 1996. He was a quarterback for the Eagles, completing 238-of-415 passes for 2,983 career yards and 18 touchdowns from 1993-95.
Armour's wife Aleshia was a principal at Overland High School before suddenly tragically away in 2021 at the age of 42. Armour has sons Keaton, Stephen, Emmanuel, and Pryce and daughters Ari, Alicia, and Micah.
