McCaffrey originally joined the staff as the Wide Receivers coach before being promoted to the Offensive Coordinator in the summer of 2021. As the OC, he still works with the wide receivers.
In his first year as offensive coordinator he helped UNC lead the Big Sky for fewest sacks allowed and 15th in the FCS at a clip of 1.18 per game. Two players earned All-Big Sky honors in offensive lineman Grant Stephens (second team) and Kassiday Woods (honorable mention). Â
A graduate of Duke University, he was a three-year starter and led his team in receiving his senior year. During his four seasons at Duke, he helped lead the team to four bowl games, including the Chik-fil-A Peach Bowl. He was a two-time All-ACC Academic selection and elected as team captain on the team. Following his career as a Blue Devil, McCaffery was invited to participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
A Colorado native, McCaffrey was a two-time All-Colorado selection at both wide receiver and defensive back. He helped Valor Christian High School win three state championships. After his time at Valor Christian, he competed in the Semper Fidelis All American Bowl.
