Larry Kerr was tabbed as the Bears' defensive coordinator in January, 2014.
Kerr spent the previous two years as the head coach at L.A. Valley College, but he is no stranger to the area or to the Big Sky Conference, as he spent two tours at Colorado State, serving as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator from 2008-11 and the defensive coordinator from 1993-02. He was also the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Northern Arizona from 1990-92.
In between stops at Colorado State, Kerr worked at UCLA (2003-05) and Duke (2006-07). Kerr has also worked at St. Mary's College, San Jose State and Stanford as well as several high schools.
He was a two-year starting linebacker at San Jose State, playing on a defense that sent eight of 11 starters to the NFL, including Denver Broncos Ring of Famer Louie Wright. He also was a standout high school athlete in Northern California and was inducted into the Marin County Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.
Kerr and his wife Tracy, have two daughters, Kelly and Lindsey, as well as four grandchildren with another on the way.
