Coach Hall will enter his third season at Northern Colorado in 2026 after being promoted to Special Teams Coordinator following the 2024 campaign. A 12-year NCAA Division I coaching veteran, Hall also serves as Defensive Pass Game Coordinator and Safeties Coach, playing a key role in the Bears’ defensive structure and special teams units.
Â
During the 2025 season, Hall contributed to a Northern Colorado defense that showed clear, measurable improvement across multiple statistical categories. The Bears reduced scoring defense by more than nine points per game, improving from 37.5 points allowed per game to 28.4, while also lowering total yards allowed per game from 468.1 to 407.3. Â Opponents were held to 211.6 passing yards per game, down from 243.9 the previous season, and pass efficiency defense improved from 159.3 to 124.6. UNC also improved its third-down defense, reducing opponent conversion rates from 46.8% to 37.7%, while nearly doubling its sack total from nine to 17, reflecting increased pressure and improved execution in the pass game.
Â
Hall played a direct role in the continued development of the Bears’ secondary, highlighted by Cam Chapa, who emerged as one of the top defensive backs in the FCS. Under Hall’s guidance, Chapa earned FCS Football Central Freshman All-America honors and Honorable Mention All-Big Sky recognition early in his career before ascending to First Team All-Big Sky honors in 2025, anchoring the Bears’ pass defense and takeaway production.
Â
Bringing extensive experience on both defense and special teams, Hall previously served as Special Teams Coordinator, Defensive Pass Game Coordinator, and Cornerbacks Coach at Utah Tech. While with the Trailblazers, he developed Ryan Kean, a First Team All-United Athletic Conference long snapper, and was later named the program’s Interim Head Coach following the season.
Â
In 2022, Hall gained Power Five experience as a Special Teams Analyst at Georgia Tech, working in the ACC. He played an expanded role late in the season, stepping in as an interim assistant coach and contributing to game preparation and special teams execution.
Â
Hall’s coaching résumé includes eight seasons in the Big Sky Conference, with stops at Montana (2015-17), Sacramento State (2018), and Idaho State (2019-21). While at Montana, he coached multiple All-Big Sky honorees and helped lead the Grizzlies to an FCS playoff appearance in 2015. In 2016, Montana’s defense ranked first in the Big Sky in total defense and second in pass defense, with Hall overseeing the secondary.
Â
He began his coaching career as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Colorado (2013-14), working with the defensive line, linebackers, and special teams units.
As a student-athlete, Hall was a wide receiver at Adams State University (2008-12), serving as a team captain and earning Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recognition. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human performance and physical education.
Â
Hall and his wife, Marissa, are proud parents to three children: Tre, McKenna, and Maya.
