Eddie Gonzales joined the University of Northern Colorado football coaching staff in 2022 and transitioned into the role of General Manager in 2023, where he oversees the administrative, operational, and logistical functions of the Bears’ football program.
In his current role, Gonzales manages the day-to-day operations of the football program, allowing the coaching staff to focus on on-field performance and player development. His responsibilities include coordinating team travel and scheduling, overseeing practice and game logistics, managing budgets and equipment purchasing, and ensuring compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations. Gonzales also serves as a key liaison between the football program and university departments, providing direct administrative support to the head coach and staff.
A UNC alumnus and two-time team captain, Gonzales returned to his alma mater following his playing career and served as the Bears’ defensive line coach during the 2022 season. His transition into football operations brought valuable on-field perspective to the administrative side of the program.
As a student-athlete, Gonzales III was a cornerstone of the Northern Colorado defense, finishing his career with 93 total tackles and five sacks. Known for his leadership and consistency, he not only anchored the defensive line but also emerged as a respected voice across the entire defense.
A native of Five Points, Colorado, Gonzales remains deeply connected to the Northern Colorado community. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNC and is currently pursuing his doctorate.
