History of the Hall of Fame
The UNC Hall of Fame's first induction class comprised eight individuals. With the 2022 induction class, the Hall of Fame has grown to include 161 individuals and 31 athletic teams. The Hall of Fame selection committee meets biennially in the Spring to select that year's inductees from among the nominations. Once a nomination has been made, that individual or team does not need to be nominated again to be considered. All nominees remain in the pool for a term of four years for the selection committee consideration in each year a Hall of Fame class is selected. Criteria for eligibility in the UNC Athletic Hall of Fame can be found here.
