BOULDER, Colo. - Northern Colorado Volleyball got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-1 victory over Wichita State (25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19) inside the CU Events Center as part of the Colorado Classic.

The Bears came out strong in the opening set, hitting .444 as a team while taking the first frame 25-17. Wichita State responded in the second, evening the match at 1-1, but Northern Colorado regained control in the third set before closing out the match with a strong fourth-set performance.

Northern Colorado finished the afternoon with 57 kills and a .313 hitting percentage, holding Wichita State to a .210 clip. The Bears also recorded five service aces, 22 total blocks and 51 digs in the victory.

Alayna Tessena led the way offensively for the Bears, recording a match-high 17 kills while hitting .400 and adding 10 digs, four blocks and an ace. Summer Snead also delivered an efficient performance with 12 kills on 22 attacks, hitting .500 while contributing seven blocks, including the block to seal the match.

Maddie Rink added 11 kills, while Leila Ballard finished with seven kills and six digs. Gillian Walton chipped in five kills and three blocks, while setter Nerea Alvarez Jorge orchestrated the offense with 48 assists.

The Bears' defense was anchored by Bella LePore, who recorded a team-high 22 digs while also adding four assists and two service aces.

UP NEXT: Northern Colorado will close out the Colorado Classic on Sunday, facing host Colorado at 3 p.m. inside the CU Events Center.
