UNC Athletics Announces Staffing Changes

GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado Athletics Department has announced staff additions.
Head men's basketball Coach, Steve Smiley has announced the addition of Demitrius Martin to the Northern Colorado men's basketball staff. Martin will serve as Assistant Coach / Director of Player Development for the Bears.
Martin comes to Greeley following a stint as an assistant coach at Western Colorado University. Prior to his time on the Western Slope, he spent four seasons at Waldorf University, including three years as associate head coach and the 2024–25 campaign as interim head coach. He began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Briar Cliff University.
Martin developed a well-rounded coaching foundation at his alma mater, taking on a wide range of responsibilities. He oversaw day-to-day program operations, coordinated recruiting efforts, led fundraising initiatives, designed practice plans, managed team travel, and guided individual player development both on and off the court.
"We're absolutely thrilled to finalize our staff with the addition of coach Demitrius Martin for this upcoming season. Coach Martin is an absolute grinder and has a ton of experience at various levels and institutions already in his career! While his primary emphasis will begin with Player Development in our program, Coach Martin will be adding value to so many areas of our program. In adding staff members, we're always looking for the right "fit" in all areas, and I think we hit a homerun with Coach Martin! We're glad he's a part of the Bears family" said Head Coach Steve Smiley.
Additionally, Matthew Delgado joins UNC Athletics as Assistant Director of Video Services bringing over five years of experience in videography, photography, social media storytelling, and live sports production in collegiate athletics.
Delgado most recently served as a Marketing & Operations Coordinator at DBC Irrigation Supply, supporting daily operations and customer relations. Prior to that, he spent two years at Campbell University as a Graduate Assistant for Content Creation & social media, producing game-day content, highlight videos, and digital campaigns to support recruiting and fan engagement while collaborating with coaches and supervising student interns.
He began his career at Briar Cliff University Athletics as a Student Creative, developing graphics, motion design, and promotional content. With a strong background in Adobe Creative Suite, he brings a creative approach to enhancing the UNC Athletics brand and fan experience.
