OGDEN, Utah – Northern Colorado women's basketball continued its strong road performance on Saturday, earning a hard-fought 69-66 victory over Weber State. The win marks the Bears third consecutive Big Sky win and improves their record to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Four Northern Colorado players reached double figures in scoring, led by Tatum West, who posted 16 points and 10 rebounds to secure her fourth double-double of the season. Neenah George added 14 points, Heather Baymon chipped in 13 points. And Aniah Hall finished with 11 points.
The Bears jumped out to an early lead by playing with pace and energy, capitalizing on fast-break opportunities created by Weber State turnovers. Despite the Wildcats efforts to close the gap, Northern Colorado held a slim 19–18 lead after the first quarter, paced by five points from George.
Momentum briefly shifted in the second quarter when Weber State connected on a three-pointer and a put back layup to take a three-point lead. Northern Colorado responded aggressively, attacking the rim and finding success in transition. West was instrumental on both ends of the floor, also hitting a career milestone with her 500th rebound during the quarter. She finished the half with 12 points and six rebounds, helping the Bears take a 37–35 lead into halftime.
After the break, both teams maintained high energy, trading baskets in a competitive third quarter. UNC continued to execute efficiently, particularly on second-chance opportunities, and carried a 57–47 advantage into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears controlled the boards, using timely offensive rebounds to manage the pace and clock. Although the Wildcats mounted a late rally, Northern Colorado held on to secure the 69-66 victory.
UP NEXT: The Bears return home Thursday, January 15, to host Portland State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. MST.
