FARMINGTON, Utah – Northern Colorado's Cooper Tate has been named the Big Sky Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Tate earned the honor following a stellar performance at the Bluejay Invitational, hosted by Creighton University. He opened the tournament with a steady 74 in round one before catching fire over the next two rounds. Tate delivered back-to-back under-par rounds, firing a sensational six-under 66 in the second round and closing strong with a four-under 68 in the final round.
"Very proud of Cooper, his play and hard work over the last nine months" said Director of Golf Clayton Sikorski. "The amount of work he has put in to get to where he is now is impressive. Cooper is a great example to those who are struggling with their game, if you work on the correct things, the results will come. It's cool to see him having success and congrats to him on winning the award".
His three-round total secured him a runner-up finish on the individual leader board and paced the Bears throughout the tournament.
A senior from Palm Bay, Florida, Tate has been a cornerstone of the UNC golf program since arriving on campus. Known for his consistency and ability to step up in big moments, he continues to play a pivotal role in the team's success while cementing himself as one of the conference's top performers.
