Cam Chapa Named to Big Sky Preseason All-Conference Team

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado defensive back Cam Chapa has been named to the 2025 Big Sky Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced Sunday.
Chapa, a breakout star for the Bears in 2024, earned the recognition following an impressive freshman campaign that saw him emerge as one of the top defenders in the Big Sky. He led Northern Colorado with 83 tackles while adding four interceptions and four pass deflections across 12 games.
His stellar season earned him spots on the Freshman All-American Defensive Team, Big Sky Conference Fall All-Academic Team, and a Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week nod in 2024.
"Congratulations to Cam on a well-deserved preseason award. I'm especially excited about Cam's second year in the program because of how hard he has worked this off-season," said head coach Ed Lamb.
Chapa's preseason recognition adds to the excitement surrounding the Bears' defense heading into the 2025 season, as Northern Colorado continues to build momentum under Lamb's leadership.
The Bears kick off their 2025 campaign on August 30 when they take on Chadron State at 1 p.m.
