UNC Athletics Welcomes Arthur Tolhurst as Director of Football Sports Performance

GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado Athletics Department is proud to announce the hiring of Arthur Tolhurst as the Director of Football Sports Performance.
Tolhurst brings extensive experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate and professional levels, including expertise in sports science integration, performance data analytics, and advanced training methodologies. His leadership will play a key role in developing and implementing a comprehensive performance program for UNC Football.
Tolhurst joins Northern Colorado after serving as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach at the University of Wyoming, where he worked with multiple Olympic sports and oversaw performance technology systems, including force plate diagnostics, EliteForm VBT, and DEXA body composition analysis.
Before his time in Laramie, Tolhurst spent two seasons in the NFL as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Cleveland Browns. In that role, he designed and implemented programming for quarterbacks, managed data collection through advanced tracking platforms, and created specialized arm-care protocols for high-performance athletes.
His collegiate experience also includes roles at the University of Oregon and the University of California, Berkeley, where he worked primarily with football programs and contributed to sports science initiatives such as GPS tracking and movement analysis.
Tolhurst earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Human Kinetics in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and currently serves as the NSCA State Director for Wyoming. His certifications also include USA Weightlifting (USAW Level 1), Functional Movement Screening, Precision Nutrition, and Mental Health First Aid.
