GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado wrestling opened its 2025–26 home slate in impressive fashion Friday night inside Bank of Colorado Arena, earning a decisive 34–12 dual victory over Campbell.
The Dual started with a Campbell forfeit at 125 pounds and the Bears took a quick 6–0 lead. At 133, freshman Ayden Thomas moved up a weight and showed promise in his home debut, jumping out early before surrendering a late third-period take down to drop a narrow 5–3 decision.
UNC responded strongly at 141 pounds as KJ Evans dominated from the opening whistle. Evans built a commanding 9–1 first-period lead with two take downs and near-fall points, then added to the margin in the second before the match was stopped due to injury, resulting in a 12–2 injury default victory.
Emilio Trujillo-Deen followed at 149 with a relentless performance, piling on pressure and points in route to a 16–0 technical fall late in the second period.
Daishun Powe continued the momentum at 157, using a flurry of take downs and scrambles to secure a 16–8 major decision in a fast-paced, high-scoring bout.
At 165 pounds, Kilian Schultz collected a forfeit win to extend the Bears' advantage.
Murphy Menke put on a clinic at 174, controlling the pace with constant pressure and multiple take downs while forcing several stalling calls, cruising to a 14–0 major decision.
Mahonri Rushton added another solid performance at 184, breaking open a scoreless first period with a pair of take downs to earn a 7–2 decision.
Tyler Perry competed at 197 pounds but was pinned in the match.
At heavyweight, Enzo Cappabianca battled through a tight, physical match but ultimately fell by decision.
With wins across the lineup and bonus points in key spots, Northern Colorado delivered a complete team effort to secure the 34–12 victory in its first home dual of the season.
