UNC Announces NGWSD Day

GREELEY, Colo. – UNC Athletics and the Colorado Women's Sports Fund Association are set to host the annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, Feb. 7th.
In conjunction with the women's basketball game against Idaho State, the Bears are hosting a free sports clinic for girls ages 5-13 at the UNC Campus Recreation Center.
The clinic is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the multi-sport clinic at noon. The clinic features a wide variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, soccer, cheerleading, track & field and more!
Instructions and training drills conducted by UNC student-athletes, with the first 150 registrants receiving the official 2026 National Girls and Women in Sports Day t-shirt, sponsored by SCHEELS.
All participants receive a complimentary ticket to the women's basketball game at 2 p.m. Discounted tickets will be available for parents and families to purchase.
In addition to game tickets, all participants will be entered to win camp scholarships and other prizes courtesy of UNC Athletics.
Registration closes Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in participating should pre-register here.

The Colorado Women's Sports Fund Association (CWSFA) is dedicated to creating opportunities for girls and women to participate in sports and encouraging and supporting their lifetime appreciation of and participation in athletics. CWSFA is happy to be a part of the UNC women's athletics programs celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day with this incredible opportunity for girls to spend time with the accomplished female athletes at UNC, interacting and learning about sports in which they are interested.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) began in 1987 as a special day in our nation's capital to recognize women's sports. The day united premiere organizations and elite female athletes to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports. NGWSD is celebrated annually across all 50 states with community-based events, award ceremonies and other celebratory activities. NGWSD is organized by the members of the National Girls & Women in Sports Day Coalition. Champion women athletes have also contributed to annual NGWSD activities.
