Bloch Shines in Bears’ 101-65 Victory over Colorado Christian

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado men's basketball lit up the scoreboard Friday night, rolling past Colorado Christian, 101-65, at Bank of Colorado Arena.
The Bears (2-0) were red-hot from beyond the arc, sinking 18 three-pointers while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor. Eleven Bears scored, eight knocked down a three, and five finished in double figures during the dominant performance.
Zach Bloch led the way with a career-high 24 points, connecting on 7-of-11 from three, tying for the fourth-most made threes in a single game in UNC history. Brock Wisne followed with 18 points and a career-high two three-pointers on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting night, while Quinn Denker dished out a career-best 10 assists, matching the fourth-highest single-game total in program history.
UNC came out firing, shooting 55 percent in the first half and using a 16-4 run to take control early. Bloch buried four triples in the opening frame, and Wisne added 13 first-half points as the Bears built a 48-27 lead at the break.
Northern Colorado kept the pressure on after halftime, outscoring the Cougars 53-38 while knocking down 12 more threes. Ring Nyeri added 14 points and six rebounds, Ibu Yamazaki chipped in 11 points on 3-of-6 from deep, and Ariik Mawien contributed 10 points and five boards.
The Bears' efficiency and depth powered the blowout, UNC tallied 22 assists, held a 39-22 edge on the glass, and turned 17 offensive rebounds into 22 second-chance points. The defense forced 16 turnovers and converted them into 17 points.
Northern Colorado eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time since their 114-98 win againt Praire View last November and continued its strong start to the 2025-26 campaign.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, November 15, traveling to Malibu, California to play against Pepperdine. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MST.
