GREELEY, Colo. — The Northern Colorado Wrestling program is gearing up for the start of a new season under fresh leadership, as head coach Teyon Ware takes the helm. With Big 12 Champion and nationally ranked No. 14 Dominick Serrano leading the charge, the Bears enter the 2025–26 campaign with renewed energy and high expectations.
The roster features a strong mix of returning talent and new faces who bring added depth, determination, and a hunger to compete at the highest level. Under Ware's direction, the program is focused on building consistency, sharpening technique, and making a statement in Big 12 competition.
Northern Colorado will open its 2025–26 campaign on the road with a challenging pair of duals in North Carolina. The Bears will first face a major early-season test on Saturday when they square off against No. 6 North Carolina State, one of the nation's premier wrestling programs.
Less than 24 hours later, UNC will be back on the mat for a quick turnaround against North Carolina Chapel Hill, continuing their tough East Coast swing.
The back-to-back duals will provide an immediate gauge of where the Bears stand under new head coach Teyon Ware, offering valuable experience and setting the tone for the rest of the season.
Looking ahead, the Bears are eager to translate their preseason ambition into results. With a newly energized coaching staff, growing depth on the roster, and a demanding opening road trip in place, Northern Colorado is poised to make a significant leap this year.
