Bears Split Road Swing Against Montana and Montana State

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Northern Colorado Volleyball came up short in a tightly contested conference battle on Saturday afternoon, falling to Montana State in four sets at Shroyer Gym (14-25, 25-22, 19-25, 23-25).
Despite battling hard and keeping each set competitive, the Bears couldn't maintain enough momentum to close out the match. The loss drops Northern Colorado to 5-11 overall and 2-2 in Big Sky play.
The match up wrapped up a tough Montana road swing for the Bears, who finished 1-1 after securing a gritty win over Montana on Thursday.
Senior Brynn Reines led the Bears offensively with 13 kills and added four digs, showing strong play on both sides of the ball. Alayna Tessena chipped in 10 kills, five digs, and a block, playing a key role in keeping sets close.
Isabel Bennett and Zoe Gibbs each added 10 kills and combined for five blocks, giving Northern Colorado a physical presence at the net.
Setting the pace for the Bears' offense was Nerea Alvarez Jorge, who dished out 40 assists and added 13 digs in a solid all-around performance.
Northern Colorado now returns home looking to regroup for the next stretch of conference play.
