Messingham Collects Another Top-10 Finish

WINDSOR, Colo. – Gage Messingham posted his fourth consecutive top-20 finish, placing sixth at the UNC Spring Invitational at Raindance National Resort and Golf Course (Par 72/7,759 yards) Monday.
Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the teams completed the planned 36 holes Monday. Tournament officials canceled the final round Tuesday due to inclement weather.
Messingham helped the Bears to a 9-over-par (292-293—585) one stroke more than third-place Weber State (288-296--584) and two swings fewer than UTRGV (294-293—586) in fifth.
Messingham opened with four birdies on his way to a 1-under-par 71 in the first round. He posted red numbers on the second and third holes, before closing with a birdie on the 16th and 18th.
In the second round, Messingham carded eight birdies, including five of the first eight holes and posted a 32 on the front nine. He finished with three red numbers on the final nine holes, posting a 3-under 69, tallying a 36-hole total of 140. On the four par-5s on the course, Messinghame posted a 4-under-par on the day.
Peter Grossenbacher registered a 72-74—146, finishing in a two-way time for 18th. He birdied the first three holes and finished with eight on the day. Grossenberg tallied a 33 over the first nine holes, before posting a 39 on the back, logging an even-par 72.
Pietro Boeris finished in 22nd, with a 75-74—149. He sank four birdie putts in the opening round and added three more over the final 18 holes.
Antii Vahvaselka posted a 7-over 151, placing 28th. He tallied a 74 on his first round, with three birdies, while adding two more in his closing round. He inked a 77 over the final 18.
TJ Sheehee wrapped up the team scoring, totaling 76-76—152, in a two-way tie for 29th.
Playing as individuals, Allesio Battista finished in a five-way draw for 23rd (73-77--150, while Blak Danni tied two other competitors in 35th (76-80—156). Westin Pals shot 76-83—159 and completed the event in a two-way tie for 41st.
